ADULT & YOUTH SHOW

2025 GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

All general rules and regulations of the Calhoun County Fair will apply to the Adult & Youth Show.

Eligibility
      Entries are open to any residents of Calhoun County and any youth enrolled in the Calhoun County Independent School District.

Entries – Entry Date: October 12 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
                     Pick-Up Date: October 19 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

All entries must be the complete work of the exhibitor.

All entries must have been completed within one (1) calendar year of the previous fair. Entries from previous years are not eligible for exhibition and will not be accepted. All entries must be undamaged and clean. Unfinished entries will not be accepted.

Any entry that has been entered and judged previously in the Calhoun County Fair cannot be exhibited or judged again.
Participants may enter as many entries in any given division, but only one (1) per class.
Entries that do not follow the Adult & Youth Show Rules will be disqualified. Disqualification may occur during judging. Acceptance of an entry at check-in is not an acknowledgment that an entry meets all division rules. Food items requiring refrigeration will not be accepted.
The Department Superintendent will direct and oversee entries and reserves the right to accept or reject entries depending on the condition and suitability of exhibits.  Calhoun County Fair reserves the right to refuse any entry deemed inappropriate for the fair.
Entries to the Calhoun County Fair will be taken to the Bauer Exhibit Building on Sunday, October 12, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. No late arrivals will be accepted. All tags for entries must be completed and placed with the entry before checking in with the department superintendent. Food items must have a copy of the recipe included without the participant's name.
Entries will be judged and given ribbons according to scores received.
Entries will be watched, and every precaution will be taken to protect all entries, but in no case will the Calhoun County Fair Association be held responsible for damage or theft.
All entries need to be picked up on Sunday, October 19, between 1 and 3 p.m. After Saturday, any unclaimed entries will be donated to a local charitable organization. The Calhoun County Fair will not be responsible for any unclaimed items.

*** CATEGORIES WITH LESS THAN 3 ENTRIES MAY BE COMBINED AT THE DIRECTOR’S DISCRETION***

Age Categories (age is determined as of August 31)
      a. Day Care and Preschool ages – Ribbons only
      b. Adult 19 years old and over
      c. Senior 14 - 18 years old
      d. Junior 9 - 13 years old
      e. Sub Junior 4 - 8 years old
      f. Senior citizens 65+
Age Categories do not apply to the School Art Department

Judging & Awards
      a. Entries will be awarded a ribbon according to merit.
      b. The name of the exhibitor shall not be displayed until judging is complete.
      c. Decisions of the judge(s) are final, and no appeals will be heard concerning the placement.
      d. No person other than Fair Officials and Judges will be allowed in the exhibit area during the time the exhibits are being judged.
      e. Superintendents have the right to reclassify any entry to comply with the rules of the show or if they think it is in the best interest of the entry.

Any entry not meeting the requirements shall be disqualified by the superintendent. Rules pertaining to a specific department are listed under that department's rules.

Cash Premiums (Cash premiums are paid out on the highest ribbon per division per person)
      a. Ribbons (Adults & Youth)
           - First place, Blue Ribbon - $3
           - Second place, Red Ribbon - $2
           - Third place, White ribbon - $1
       b. Rosettes (Adult & Youth)
            - Grand Rosette - $5
            - Reserve Rosette - $4
        c. In the event of a rainout or financial failure of the Calhoun County Fair, the Calhoun County Fair Association reserves the right to reduce its published premium list to an amount in proportion to the total receipts.

Cash premiums MUST BE PICKED UP Saturday, October 18th from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Failure to pick up during the scheduled time will result in forfeiture of any and all premiums.
